Respuesta fotosintética del cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) frente al estrés térmico asociado con el niño en escenarios de variabilidad climática

La creciente variabilidad climática asociada a fenómenos como El Niño-Oscilación del Sur (ENOS) representa un riesgo creciente para cultivos tropicales perennes altamente sensibles a la temperatura, como el cacao (Theobroma cacao L.). El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la respuesta fotosintética del cacao frente a la variación térmica asociada con El Niño, relacionando la temperatura ambiental con la actividad fotosintética y el rendimiento del cultivo, para valorar su vulnerabilidad térmica desde un enfoque fisiológico. Metodológicamente, se desarrolló un estudio cuantitativo de carácter analítico basado en la integración de literatura científica y registros climáticos y productivos, organizando la información en tablas y figuras según los rangos térmicos y su correspondencia con la respuesta fotosintética, el fotosistema II y el rendimiento. Los resultados evidenciaron una respuesta no lineal y dependiente del proceso evaluado: la conductancia estomática se favorece entre 20-30 °C, la eficiencia del fotosistema II alcanza su máximo entre 24,1- 25,6 °C, y la asimilación de CO2 se optimiza entre 30- 33 °C, mientras que por encima de 30 °C la vulnerabilidad fisiológica aumenta según la radiación, el déficit de presión de vapor y el genotipo. Se concluye que el riesgo fotosintético asociado con el fenómeno El Niño depende de la coincidencia de múltiples variables ambientales y no de un único umbral térmico.
