Abstract

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is one of the most consumed leafy vegetables in the country, standing out in the central coast due to favorable climatic conditions that facilitate its optimal development and production. Growth analysis is crucial to predict its growth and development, providing information for agronomic decision making in agriculture. The objective of the study was to determine the behavior in their main phenological stages of four types of lettuce, as well as their growth patterns in eight cultivars (Waldman Green, Rouxai, Behn, Desirade, Gaugin, White Boston, Parris Island and Patagonia) during the winter and spring seasons on the Peruvian coast. The study was carried out in the experimental field of Horticulture PIPS at UNALM, using a balanced incomplete block design with four blocks and eight treatments, evaluating ten plants per experimental unit from eleven days after transplanting until harvest, recording data on the number of leaves, length and width of the largest leaf at the growth stage, to determine predictive models and their harvest variables. Growth parameters were determined using RStudio software. It was observed that phenological stages vary between types and cultivars, which can be influenced by environmental factors. Yields showed significant difference, with the Patagonia cultivar (6.2 kg/m²) being significantly superior, Parris Island and White Boston (2.87 and 2.85 kg/m²) showing no significant difference, and all leaf type cultivars (between 1.21 and 2.11 kg/m²) showing no significant difference between them. It was found that the predictive ARIMA and regression models provided a high percentage of variability that can be explained by the model according to the Ljung-Box test.
